Providing Aid, Support, and Peace of Mind

The WCVSC provides various services and assistance to Washington County, OH Veterans, widows, spouses, dependents, and orphans.  

VA Benefits Services

The Veterans Office provides assistance to Veterans, widows, and eligible dependents to apply through the claims process for benefits associated with military service-connected disabilities, non-service connected pensions, and death pensions with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Examples of these claims include: 

  • Military Service Connected Disability 

  • VA Pensions (Low-Income War Time Veterans) 

  • Death and Burial Benefits  

  • VA Healthcare Enrollment 

  • Headstone and Grave Markers 

  • G. I. Bill Education  Application 

  • Widows Death Indemnity Compensation and Pensions 

  • Military Retirements 

Medical Transportation

Transportation is provided to Washington County Veteran residents that have scheduled appointments to select VA or referred medical facilities outside of Washington County. Transportation is provided on a first come-first serve basis. Call at least 48 hours prior to the day of appointment to assure availability. 

Burial Benefits

The Veterans Office will provide a grave service flag and flag holder for county Veterans. The Veterans office will assist with all VA burial benefit programs.  

Temporary Financial Assistance

The Veterans Office provides temporary assistance to qualifying Veterans, widows, or dependents who meet all policy requirements. Emergency funds for food, shelter, utilities, certain prescriptions, clothing, and other essentials for life may be provided. Proof of household income and expenditures (with receipts) are required. Policy guidelines are available upon request.

Veteran's I.D. Cards

We provide Veteran’s Photo I.D. cards for Washington County Veterans who have a verifiable military discharge from federal active duty under honorable conditions and a valid Ohio driver’s license showing a Washington County address.

Other Government Benefits

The Veterans Office assists Veterans and widows when applying for benefits from other government agencies by providing referral services and assisting in obtaining necessary government documents such as military discharges, medical records, birth, death, and marriage certificates.
